The club’s Development side returned to league action at Station Park on Tuesday evening, Cowdenbeath the visitors.
After a fairly lack lustre first half showing the young ‘Loons’ with only Gavin Malin and Craig Smith as over age players in their ranks burst into life and thanks to some great lead up work and clinical finishing eventually ran out 7-2 winners.
Frankie Devine gave the home side the lead in the 18th minute with a cracking drive from 15 yards out, but within ten minutes the Central Park side had gone 2-1 up. Cameron Muirhead netted their first, Calum Robertson the second aided by a wicked deflection which saw the ball loop over Jason King into the net.
However three minutes before the break, the ‘Loons’ were back on level terms. Scott Page in the visitors goal did well to block a Cameron Clark strike but Jack Neave was on hand to hook the rebound home.
The second period was a different story with the homesters at their rampant best.
Kerr Hay rifled home number three on the night with a left foot shot from 12 yards out in the 58th minute, then just sixty seconds later Craig Smith added a fourth from close range.
Kerr netted number five in the 69th minute with a fierce low drive from 22 yards out, number six coming just two minutes later with Craig Smith netting after running on to a superb through ball from Kerr.
Substitute Matthew Aitken rounded off the scoring in the 74th minute, Frankie Devine the architect on this occasion and in fact in the closing quarter of an hour the Athies could have taken their final tally into double figures.
