Forfar Athletic officials can confirm that their Irn Bru Cup fourth round tie with Welsh League Champions New Saints, already much anticipated by football fans in the area will take place at Station Park on Saturday 8th October with a 3p.m. kick-off.
This follows confirmation from SPFL officials that the game has not been chosen for live television coverage by either BBC Alba or Premier Sports.
Obviously Scotland play Lithuania at Hampden Park that evening with a 7.45p.m. kick-off, but after giving the situation some thought the Station Park Directors and Management decided against the possibility of bringing the kick-off forward or for that matter discussing with their opponents the possibility of moving the game to Sunday afternoon.
To be fair in preliminary talks, New Saints Operations Director Ian Williams had expressed his hope that the game would go ahead on the Saturday afternoon.
Given that the game will be the only senior fixture in Tayside that day and that it will be the first ever competitive fixture between the ‘Loons’ and a club from out with the Scottish footballing family, it is hoped that local fans will turn out on the day in some numbers to back Gary Bollan and his players as they bid for a last eight slot in the re-vamped competition.
Hospitality packages are available for the fixture and enquiries should be made to David McGregor on 07871165689 or e mail
At least one table for six patrons as against the normal party of ten could be available.
