William Hill League1
Play-Off Semi-final – 1st Leg
As has been well documented the ‘Loons’ management and players deserve every ounce of praise following a five-game unbeaten run in the William Hill League2 which has clinched a semi-final berth in the end of season League1 Play-Offs.
The first leg tie of the Athies clash against the team that eventually occupies the ninth position in the League1 standings come 5pm on Saturday first goes ahead on home ‘turf’ on Tuesday first.
As matters stand, Stuart Morrison and his colleagues, who still have their final scheduled league fixture of the season to fulfil at Annan on Saturday first themselves, will in fact battle it out over two legs next week against any one of a trio of opponents. Cove Rangers, East Fife and Hamilton Accies, the latter remember having been ‘docked’ 21 points for various breaches of the SPFL rules during the course of the campaign, are the three sides in the ‘mix’.
Their respective records going into match day 36 are as follows:
Cove Rangers - 37 points - goal difference -3
East Fife - 35 points - goal difference -27
Hamilton Accies - 34 points - goal difference +13
The Accies head to Inverness on Saturday first to face title aspirants Inverness Caledonian Thistle, but on the back of three successive victories the full time Lanarkshire outfit will still fancy their chances to get some reward from their trip up the A9. Cove Rangers and East Fife, by a twist of the fixture card, meet on the final day of the season at the Balmoral Stadium so their fate is in their own hands so to speak.
Whoever the eventual opponents for the ‘Loons’ turns out to be, the Station Park squad will be primed, fit and raring to go come 7.45pm next Tuesday evening. The full match information, as it stands, listed below.
