Thank You

The ‘Loons’ players broke both their points-gathering and goal-scoring ‘ducks’ in the Premier Sports Cup campaign with a 3-1 home win over local rivals Brechin City at the Parkgrove Stadium @ Station Park on Saturday afternoon.

It was a much-needed boost for all of an Athies connection and hopefully bodes well for the league campaign ahead, which begins with a visit from Kelty Hearts on Saturday first.

Thanks first and foremost yesterday to the 580 supporters who turned out on a glorious afternoon to back their side.

Special thanks to the ‘Loons’ supporters who turned up despite the previous results in our Group ‘E’ fixtures, but also to the healthy contingent of City fans who made the short trip south.

We would take the opportunity of wishing our neighbours every success in their first season in the Lowland League East, which begins in midweek.

Forfar Athletic officials were also delighted by the fact that all four hospitality lounges were full for Brechin’s visit.

Thanks in this regard to Sturrock Joiners, that well-established family business out at Whiggstreet, for their support on the day and to Keith Thomson and Friends, those two parties enjoying their afternoon in the Archie Knox and Stewart Kennedy Lounges respectively.

We were also delighted to host a group of fans from the Glebe, many a familiar face amongst them in the Doug Houston Lounge.   Special thanks to Kyle Walker for organising this group.

Finally, it was great to see Margaret Wilson and her friends have such a great afternoon in the Ian McPhee Lounge; this particular day out having been purchased in the auction at the Ladies Dinner in the Reid Hall back in late March.
